New Zealand Babywearing Week Giveaway sponsored by Scarecrow Farm

Hello everyone.  We’re on the countdown to New Zealand Babywearing Week (6 – 14 October 2012) and we are looking forward to celebrating with you.  Over the next few weeks we will be continuing our fantastic giveaways thanks to some generous product sponsors.  The next giveaway will be drawn once we reach 1200 page members over on the New Zealand Babywearing Week facebook page.

Our 1200 liker giveaway sponsor is Scarecrow Farm. One lucky ‘New Zealand Babywearing Week Facebook page’ member will be randomly drawn to take home a Moby Wrap in the colour of your choice from the Moby range. (Open to NZ residents only).

The design of the Moby Wrap uses your entire back, as well as your shoulders, to carry the weight of your baby. Unlike other carriers which have narrow straps or go across one shoulder, the Moby Wrap is a wide piece of durable, high quality fabric that is wrapped over both shoulders. It is amazingly comfortable and easy to wear. There are no buckles, snaps or other fasteners (that may break or bend). It is easy to adjust the fit of your Moby Wrap by varying how tightly you wrap yourself and baby. Moby Wraps are one size which means all caregivers can easily and comfortably share one wrap.

New Zealand Babywearing Week 2011 Event Wrap Up – New Plymouth Babywearing Walk

Event organiser Trudie shared this about the 2011 New Plymouth Babywearing Walk which took place on Saturday 15th October 2011:

“Our New Plymouth babywearing walk was very small! (Only 5 mums including me!) But we had a great time…..Until the rain set in and we had to run (very hard to do while tandem wearing I might add!) back to our cars! I only managed to get ONE photo before my camera got water logged!!!”

Keep an eye on our blog and the New Zealand Babywearing Week Facebook page to see what will be happening in New Plymouth to celebrate New Zealand Babywearing Week 2012!

New Zealand Babywearing Week 2011 Event Wrap Up – Babywearing North Shore Group Launch

ManducaNew Zealand Babywearing Week was perfect timing for the launch of new babywearing group ‘Babywearing North Shore‘.  The launch took place on Tuesday 11 October and was well supported with a great turnout.  Brief demonstrations of how to wear the main types of baby carrier were given followed by an opportunity for attendees to ask for help with their own carriers, or to try on a different type that they were curious about.  Here are some of the Babywearing North Shore team in action  (along with special guest, Jessica Richards of Slingbabies who demonstrated a woven wrap, and also explained why bag slings are a dangerous babywearing option):

We also enjoyed drawing winners of the products donated by the generous New Zealand Babywearing Week sponsors!!  The lucky winners are pictured below with their loot – fumbee shoulder strap protectors, Manduca front pouch, The Natural Parent magazines & a 1yr subscription, Rockin’ Green laundry detergent, OURS DVD, Tummy2Tummy Babywearing Instructional DVD and Huggalugs leg warmers.  A big thank you to the sponsors!

ManducaBabywearing North Shore meets on the 2nd Tuesday of each month for a workshop style meeting, and the 4th Tuesday of each month for a coffee group meet up.  For more information visit the Babywearing North Shore Facebook page or the Babywearing North Shore blog.

New Zealand Babywearing Week 2011 Event Wrap Up – Gisborne Babywearing Morning Tea

Event wrap up by event organiser Jacquie Shanks of Cheeky Cherubs:

The event at Mangapapa Playcentre was lovely.  We had 15 ladies attend, all with kidlets in tow (plus myself and Huia).  I did a couple of brief demo’s of the Manduca, Close Baby Carrier (Caboo) and the pouch slings I make and displayed the flyers for them all and the Kozy Carrier (had a Kozy on display too). I had also printed out some of the TICKS safety guidelines so that people could take them as well.

Huia demostrated her wraps (www.huiadesign.org.nz) which was excellent as one lady came along with her wrap but hadn’t used it much as she couldn’t get her bub comfy! So she was able to get the help she needed.

My daughter Bonnie & her friend Izzy drew numbers to select the spot prize winners and handed out prizes to people.  An image of the spot prize winners is below:

I look forward to organising something again next year!!!
